Crianças pedintes no Senegal - Children beggars in Senegal

No Senegal, vi muitas crianças na rua pedindo esmola. Durante uma parte do dia as crianças estudam o Alcorão com um líder islâmico, o Marabu. Depois elas vão pedir esmolas para cobrir os custos do tempo de estudo. Um amigo senegalês, Amadou, me explicou dizendo que como o país proíbe o aborto, muitas mães abandonam os filhos e eles vão morar com os Marabus. Depois, mais velhos, alguns entram na seita islâmica dos Baye Fall. Os Baye Fall também mendigam durante parte do dia. Essas fotos que fiz da escola corânica foram tiradas de forma discreta, por se tratar de uma sociedade islâmica que não gosta muito dos registros fotográficos. Vi que meu amigo, Amadou, tem uma preocupação com essas crianças. Quer fazer algo por elas e percebe que a relação entre Marabus e órfãos não é tão benéfica assim para a sociedade. Ele me disse que existem Marabus que realmente exploram essas crianças.

In Senegal, I saw many children in the street asking for alms. During one part of the day the children study the Koran with a Muslim leader (Marabout).  Then they'll beg to cover the costs of study time. A Senegalese friend, Amadou, told me how the country prohibits abortion, many mothers abandon their children and they will live with the marabouts. Then older, some entering the Islamic sect of the Baye Fall. The Baye Fall also beg for part of the day. I did those pictures of Koranic school in a discreet way because it is an Islamic society that does not like much of the photographic records.  My friend, Amadou, has a concern with these children. He wants to do something for them and he realizes that the relationship between marabouts  and orphans is not as beneficial to society as well. He told me: there are marabouts that really exploit these children.
